Collages

Wound Surround, 2025

Wound Surround is a series of small drawings, paper-based installations, and interactive workshop. Each piece features a different form of non-linear narrative inspired by personal happenstances and the whimsical nature of modern medicine.

Together, the works act as a fantastical retelling of the experiences of a 6-year medical battle, with each work exploring sacrificial and tastefully superstitious imagery. The series features a combination of collage, handmade accordion-folded paper books filled with drawings, free-hanging drawing installations, and included a workshop on Sunday, March 23, 2025 on narrative-informed collaging.

Exhibited at of body at Ministry of Casual Living, March 8 - 23, 2025.

Selected Works, 2020-2023

These recent collages are still in development and are part of an ongoing series exploring the vulnerability of domestic life and Powell’s own personal histories. Using a combination of materials sourced from all over her life, these works all but seem to have a mind of their own.

Some of the materials include, but are not limited to; torn wallpaper from character homes that are no longer lived in, bits of fabric stolen from family, 70 year old enveloppes, string, hair, and so much more. Giving each of these lively pieces an abstracted story that is subjective, ghostly, and eerily familiar.

Selected works, 2010-2018

These collaged works were made for a variety of projects and exhibitions over the course of the 2010s.

A curious concoction of ‘stuff management’, these works are the gathering of frozen moments, distributed in a whimsical space.
