Each of Powell’s recent illustration works feature a combination of mediums such as graphite, oil stick, pencil crayon, and raw pigment on a variety of large-scale papertypes.

A raw, visceral feeling accompanies each piece as they depict abstract renditions of common household objects and lucid interpretations of daily life. The variety and harshness of the medium ebbs and flows with movement, seemingly derived from muscle memory, but is balanced by a sort of of whimsey and play that makes these illustrations feel like home.
